Dr. William Gray is an interventional cardiologist certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology. He is also certified in vascular and endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine.
Dr. Gray specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac/structural and peripheral arterial disease, with special interests in novel nonsurgical modalities for stroke prevention (carotid stenting and left atrial appendage occlusion devices), the management of mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, and arterial disease affecting the legs.
Dr. Gray earned his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine (now known as Lewis Katz School of Medicine), Philadelphia, PA. He completed an internal medicine residency and chief residency at Brown University-affiliated Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, where he also completed a clinical and research cardiology fellowship. Prior to joining Main Line Health in 2016, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University and served as Director of Endovascular Intervention at the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy (CIVT) at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center from 2005–2015. Prior to that, he served in similar roles at Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, WA, and Southwest Cardiology Associates, Albuquerque, NM.
An active researcher, Dr. Gray holds several medical device patents and has served as global/national Principal Investigator for nearly 20 clinical trials in coronary, endovascular, and structural heart interventions, leading to multiple FDA device approvals or clearances. He has authored more than 200 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals, and is the author of two books. He is also a frequent speaker and course director at national and international symposia.
